Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine

Activities


The Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine is a part of UDCCK. It was established in 1975 as a department of the Dentistry School. Within the Department, the subject ‘Oral Disease’ is taught for the students of the basic studies of the Dentistry School, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Prishtina. 

The healthcare activities are achieved by specialized staff for treatment of patients with diseases of the tooth supporting tissues, as well as of soft tissues of the oral cavity. There are four specialists of Oral and Tooth Diseases, and of Periodontology and Oral Medicine working in the Department. Also, within the healthcare activities, there is postgraduate education training in the Department for residents in Periodontolgy and Oral medicine from all over the country. 

The developmental plans of the Department include expanded scope of treatments of patients with contemporary methods, such as laser application, osseous xenotransplantats for treatment of periodontal defects and placement of the implants in the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with partial or complete edentulism.
